Guys, please send your best whishes to Goldenboy and his family. Last night Goldenboy was a 2 time belt holder. He thought he could defend his belt easily by taking on John. John outboxed and outpunched Goldenboy for 30 rounds and walked away with the title (2 x UD15).

John boxed like a very talented kid. Peppering Goldenboy with jabs all night long. He was clearly the better boxer. When Goldenboy and John brawled it was even, when John decided to box he showed what a ring general he is. With Boon in his corner giving him some proper advice John fought with his head. Great performance! Anyone who says that Goldenboy has improved a lot should rewatch these fights. Id say John can beat Goldenboy 8 out of 10 times.

Goldenboy took a tremendous beating. The question is if he can come back, or will he be damaged goods? Not only did John beat Goldenboy, he took his heart and flushed it down the toilet. Lets all hope Goldenboy is OK after the beating he took and will continue to play this game.

The fights can be watched here:

Amen, Boon

"John represents the renaissance of OB. John stepped up and filled the vacuum Fatny left behind. Not only his skills are amazing, also his dedication to keep this game interesting and alive. I was there when he first won the title, I was watching over his shoulder when he bullied all competition, I was there when he became a HOF´er. I may not be a great fighter myself, but I do have eye for talent. John is something special, I told him right after he won his first title. John is the spark that became a flame that turned into a devastating fire. Apart from being a great guy he never stepped down from a challenge and always looked to square off against OB´s best to further improve his skills. Many HOF´ers made short comebacks during the year John reigned OB, only to be knocked out by Big Bad John." - Dick E. Boon

"The thing with John is that he's just so extremely accurate, both in offense and in defense. There's some punches I consider myself a master of, like the small hook and the long upper. Well they're useless against John no matter how well you throw them, he just keeps blocking 90% of them and hurting you in the process. Speaking of which...if he hurts you (and he will), you better move your head a lot because he also happens to be one of the best finishers i've ever seen. Basically if you're not extremely good AND creative, you'll end up on the floor. A fine addition to the hall of fame indeed." - Fatny

i also became champ tonight aswell. i know what you mean you just subconcsiously play smarter. i think it just cements you when you become champ gives you a reason to win and come back. also i felt like i was the best fighter in the world after beating paul 12 to 3 rounds... but do feel bare jaded now. like oh thats it...thats what i have been staying up for until 2 o clock in the morning for.

Hey now don't get too carried away Ike.
I had a strategy...I wanted you to gas...it was a 15 round fight so I thought it was a good strategy...So I hardly threw any punches at you...and I let you throw LOTS at me...I did this on purpose...I wanted to knock you out in the later rounds when you have no stamina left...unfortunately for me...you only started to really gas out at round 13...so it only gave me 2 rounds to go all out for the KO or TKO... you gotta admit I almost had you in that last round.

2 fights on any given day mean nothing, thats the beauty of OB. i throttle john 9 out of 10 times when we fight normally yet he stepped up when it mattered. lots of examples of it. viper is a better fighter then me yet I have been winning more of our fights lately.. doesnt mean I am better then him.
